OFA IN CONJUNCTION WITH BURLINGTON MINOR TO HOST 2012 FLAG FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Football Canada is proud to announce that the 2012 Flag Football U-16 and U-18 National Championships are coming to Southern Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe region, July 27 - 31. The Flag Nationals will be hosted by the Ontario Football Alliance (OFA) in conjunction with Burlington Minor Football Association (BMFA) at Appleby College in Oakville, Ontario. The championships return to the province of Ontario after Football Nova Scotia successfully hosted the event at Dalhousie University.
The 2011 edition of the Flag Football National Championships hosted over 160 athletes representing seven provinces and one territory in Halifax. It also marked the first entry of a team from the Northwest Territories into the event.
Quebec won a pair of gold medals in the female U16 and U18 divisions against P.E.I. and Ontario respectively. Manitoba captured the female U16 bronze medal with a 31-20 win against Saskatchewan.
On the male side of the draw, British Columbia captured gold in the U16 division with a 48-12 win against Alberta while Manitoba won bronze after defeating Saskatchewan 42-32. Host Nova Scotia edged Quebec 16-15 to capture the U18 male gold medal while Manitoba beat British Columbia 27-20 to win bronze.
